| The last weeks of the fifth TLP session of 2006 was cursed with bad weather. After checking various weather reports I decided that the Wednesday of the last week was the best day to go. In the morning it should be foggy, but in the afternoon the sun should break through. A friend of mine didn't thrust me completely, but because he had some free days left he joined me to Florennes. He almost cursed me when we arrived at Florennes as it was really foggy. But at the moment the TLP aircraft started their engines the sun broke through and we got an almost totally blue sky! It was the start of our best TLP of the season!
The French had invaded Belgium with their Mirage 2000D's, N's and F1CR's. Of course the F-16's were flown in from Greece (Block 52's) and Norway. Uncommon was the presence of all the Tornado sub-types, the IDS / Gr.4 (strike), F.3 (air superiority) and ECR (SEAD). Other participants were four Lakenheath Eagle's, two Spanish Hornets from Gando and the Italian AMX. |
