Manching, at the fence, 02-06-2005
On the return hometrip of the Elite 2005 exercise we made our last stop at German Testbase Manching. This was a wise decision, because when we looked at the German Transalls and NATO AWACS on the platform a F-4F Phantom and two Tornado's of the based testunit WTD61 took off. When they came back we had the oppurtunity to make nice pictures of them. The Phantom carried the IRIS-T air-to-air missile, which will replace the sidewinder on the German Eurofighters. The Tornado's made a flight together, the 46+10 acted as a fuelsupport aircraft for the 98+60. The latter test-Tornado is also a flying testbed for the Eurofighter, in this case for trials with the German / Swedish KEPD 350 Taurus dispenser missile.
